About Us

Zoar Stores is a family business that was established in 1949 by the late William John Jones. After the war, where he saw service in North Africa, Italy and the Germany, Mr Jones obtained a license to become an agricultural merchant in Hopkins Place in Neath.

The business increased gradually over the years, incorporating haulage and lime spreading contracting as well as the development of Cimla Service Station, which offered forecourt services and became a Rootes’ franchise and then later, Saab.

After his death in 1987, his three children, Christine, Martin and Leighton expanded the agricultural store to include equestrian products alongside feed. A pet shop and garden centre soon followed in the same yard and in 1996, a neighbouring site became available allowing the family to open a dedicated pet store. Zoar’s Ark Pet Superstore, Pond and Garden Centre operate in this form to the present day.

Over the last 60 years, Zoar Horse and Country Centre has developed into a one stop specialist equestrian and country store, providing everything for both the horse and rider at very competitive prices.

The equestrian shop carries a large selection of Zoar branded products, which represent good quality at reasonable prices.

Among its comprehensive range of specialist horse feed, are the ever popular Zoar Horse and Pony Cubes and complete mixes. Staff are trained on nutrition and will be able to help and offer advice.

The business currently employs 38 staff, offering specialist advice such as hat and body protector fitting, and are also members of BETA. As an AMTRA registered business, qualified staff are on site to help and advise on an individual preventative-worming program for you horse.

The business is run very much as a friendly family concern and particular attention is paid to good service, the provision of an in depth range of products and competitive pricing.

The next step in expanding the business will be to trade online. Customers can view their online advert by visiting www.zoarsark.co.uk and a free colour brochure is also available in store.

If you have not yet visited Zoars, the range of products will surprise you and you will be sure of a warm welcome.
